Precious Metal Clay Learn to make buttons, beads, brooches and more using Precious Metal Clay. PMC is pure silver, finely disseminated in a clay-like base that is formed, then fired in a kiln to harden. Since almost all the work, such as modeling and finishing, can be done before the piece is fired, all the difficult and time consuming work of silversmithing and soldering can be avoided. Since PMC is pure silver, is also has the advantage of resisting tarnish. |

Photographing the Small World Small is beautiful—and photographing small objects is something truly special. Learn the techniques of close-up photography in this hands-on workshop. We’ll examine what lenses and accessories you’ll need to achieve exceptional close-ups of everyday objects. You will easily come to understand depth of field, working distance, and reproduction ratio. Most importantly we’ll explore how to light and compose objects in the small world. Both film and digital photographers are welcome. We will shoot a variety of objects from shells and flowers to small sculpture. Whether you are a photographer looking to explore new realms, or an artist interested in documenting your 3D projects, this is a class for you. |

Pewtersmithing Learn to make functional and decorative objects from a wonderfully versatile metal. Pewter is easy to work, and easy to solder. This allows us to make a variety of forms in a much shorter time then working in silver. Pewter can be finished in everything from a glossy high luster to a deep rich matte. The surface can be further embellished by embossing and the addition of an etch or patina. Join us as we explore this most ancient and traditional material. Oh, and by the way, modern pewter contains no lead. |
